State Sen. and Small Business Hawaii President Sam Slom said he’s interested in acquiring the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Slom, R-8th (Kahala, Hawaiçi Kai), is one of several investors who have expressed an interest in the state’s no. 2 newspaper.
Slom said he recently contacted Star-Bulletin owner, Oahu Publications Inc., about his interest and signed a nondisclosure agreement that would provide him with financial data about the newspaper.
He said he’s spoken with other investors about pursuing a bid.
Today is the deadline for investors contact Oahu Publications about acquiring the Star-Bulletin, its website and its printing operations in Kaneohe. Prospective buyers have until next Monday to submit a nonbiding bid.
Oahu Publications is selling the Star-Bulletin to make way for its planned acquisition of the Honolulu Advertiser.
