Advertiser Staff

Police yesterday arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a January incident in which two men were beaten by a pair of assailants armed with a bat and pipe.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 when a 34-year-old Ewa Beach man approached the suspect to complain about noise from a party the suspect was having. Police said suspect allegedly hit the victim with a metal bat and another man, age 19, joined in and beat the victim with a metal pipe. The victim suffered serious injries.

According to police, a 31-year-old man witnessed the assault and attempted to help the victim. He, too, was beaten by the two suspects.

Yesterday morning, the 21-year-old suspect was seen near the victim's home and arrested on two counts of second-degree assault. The second suspect in the case has not been located.
