State to unveil plans to test a bike-sharing program

Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Health hopes to test a bicycle sharing program in Kailua and will present plans for project at the Kailua Neighborhood Board meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Kailua District Park, 21 S. Kainalu Drive.

Staff from Healthy Hawaii Project proposed the pilot project to one of the board's committee, said Chuck Prentiss, Kailua board chairman.

The goal is to have bicycles at key locations that people can use to get around the town, Prentiss said. A fee will be charged, but the first half hour is free, he said.

For more information residents should attend the meeting, Prentiss said.
