Kalani graduate Nicole Sakamoto, who is a sophomore at James Madison in Virginia, is one of three golfers selected by the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee to participate in the East Regional. The regional is today to Saturday at the Ironwood Country Club in Greenville, N.C.

Sakamoto is the first JMU women's golfer to qualify for the NCAA regional since the Dukes went as a team in 2005. She was a first-team All-CAA selection this season after leading the Dukes with a 75.0 stroke average in 10 events. She posted four top-5 finishes, including a second-place showing at the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Championships.

A total of 369 participants has been selected for regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championship finals. Eight teams and two individuals advance from each regional.
