HPU softball team to host NCAA West Regional

FRIDAY

Game 1—Cal State Monterey Bay (32-18) vs. Hawai'i-Hilo (35-14), 11 a.m.

G2—Central Washington (37-13) vs. Hawai'i Pacific (41-6), 1:30 p.m.

SATURDAY

G3—CSUMB-UHH winner vs. CWU-HPU winner, 11 a.m.

G4—CSUMB-UHH loser vs. CWU-HPU loser, 1:30 p.m.

G5—G4 winner vs. G3 loser, 4 p.m.

SUNDAY

G6—G3 winner vs. G5 winner, 11 a.m.

G7—if necessary, 1:30 p.m.

The Hawai'i Pacific University softball team will host one of two NCAA Division II West Regionals this week, the NCAA announced this morning.

The Sea Warriors (41-6), the PacWest champion, will host the four-team regional scheduled Friday through Sunday at their Howard A. Okita Field in Kane'ohe. HPU is the top seed and faces No. 4 Central Washington (37-13) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Hawai'i-Hilo (35-14) is seeded third and plays No. 2 Cal State Monterey Bay (32-18) at 11 a.m. on Friday.

HPU lost single games to Central Washington and Cal State Monterey Bay this year. UH Hilo also lost a game Cal State Monterey Bay. UH Hilo and HPU split their four-game series this season.

The 16 regional winners will advance to the Super Regionals on May 21-22. The finals will be held May 27-31 in St. Joseph, Mo.
