Average price for gallon of regular gasoline in Isles rises to $3.58
Gasoline prices remained flat last week, but the average price of a gallon of regular in Hawaii rose a penny to $3.58, according to AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
Honolulu's average was $3.46, unchanged for the third consecutive week, four cents more than last month and $1.01 higher than at this time last year.
Hilo's average was $3:57, the same as last week, a nickel more than last month and 96 cents higher than at this time last year.
Wailukus average was $3.92, one cent less than last week, three cents more than last month and $1.12 more than at this time last year.
"Across the country retail prices began to slowly follow the market's lawer oil prices over the past week in reaction to volatility in the European markets and higher U.S. unemployment numbers," said Chris Olvera, AAA Hawaii's acting branch manager. "We'll need to continue to watch if the drop in oil prices affects Hawaii retail prices in the near term."
