Former KGMB9 anchor to vie for U.S. Congress seat

Advertiser Staff

Former television news anchor Ramsay Wharton has filed candidacy papers for the Republican nomination for Hawai'i's 2nd Congressional District seat.

Wharton filed her nomination papers with the state Office of Elections yesterday.

The former KGMB9 news anchor, who lives in Kapolei, will face at least one rival for the GOP nomination, Antonio Gimbernat of Maui.

The seat is now held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono.

The district covers the Neighbor Islands and much of O'ahu except for urban Honolulu.
