HPU softball team reaches NCAA West Regional final; UH-Hilo eliminated

KANE'OHE — The Hawai'i Pacific softball team defeated Cal State Monterey Bay, 3-2, to advance to the final of the NCAA Division II West Regional.

HPU (43-6) will play Central Washington in the title game at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Howard A. Okita Field. If HPU loses, there will be a take-all game at 1:30 p.m.

The Sea Warriors jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings against CSUMB today. Sherise Musquiz scattered seven hits and Nicole Morrow had two hits in the win.

Central Washington eliminated UH-Hilo, 2-1. Megan Kopczynski recorded the game-winning RBI, driving home Samantha Petrich who had doubled to lead off the eighth inning.

Central Washington defeated CSUMB, 2-0, advancing to tomorrow's final.
