University of Hawai'i' shortstop Greg Garcia was named Verizon Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for games played May 10-16.

Garcia, a junior from Cajon, Calif. (Valhalla HS), hit a league-best .636 (7-for-11) last week, helping the Rainbows win three of four against New Mexico State.

Garcia recorded five RBIs, four walks, two runs and a double over the four games. He also registered a .733 on-base percentage.

In the final game — a UH loss — Garcia batted 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and a run scored.

Garcia also had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on 19 chances at shortstop.

Nevada's Brock Stassi was named WAC Pitcher of the Week.
