The University of Hawaii today announced that Benjy Taylor, former head coach at Chicago State, has joined the basketball coaching staff of Gib Arnold as an assistant.

"It's great to have Benjy join our UH family," Arnold said in a release.

"I've known Benjy and his wife Wendy for a long time and I'm grateful they'll be here to help build our program.

"Benjy will help us in all aspects of the team. As a former Division I head coach, he will be particularly instrumental in our game preparation and team development. Also, his

contacts in the South and in Chicago will help us tremendously in our recruiting efforts."

Arnold and Taylor were assistant coaches at Pepperdine.

Taylor, who has 20 years of coaching experience, was head coach at Chicago State for three seasons.
