Guam man pleads guilty to 3 counts of murder
HAGATNA, Guam — A 53-year-old Guam man has pleaded guilty to three counts of murder for fatally shooting two women and their 17-year-old employee in 2004.
Officials still don't why Jose Ranny Lazado Latoza killed Kim Thi Thah Mai, her mother, Nghe B. Huynh, and Mitson William.
They were shot in the head at Mai's vegetable stand in Dededo. Latoza was arrested near the three bodies, with a rifle by his side.
Superior Court Judge Alberto Lamorena on Tuesday sentenced Latoza under a plea agreement to life in prison. He will become eligible for parole in 14 years because he has already served six years behind bars.
Lamorena said it was "unfortunate" Latoza didn't plead guilty to aggravated murder, which could have denied him parole.
