Threats to shoot, kill people at gathering leads to arrest

Advertiser Staff

A 22-year-old McCully man was arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly threatened to kill three men, a woman and a 15-year-old boy.

Police said the suspect and the others were attending a social gathering when an argument broke out about 8 p.m.

Several people at the scene told police that the suspect said he had a gun and that he was going to shoot them all, and then began to reach into his backpack.

At that point, the others who were present were able to grab the man and detain him until officers arrived, police said.

The suspect received minor injuries during the scuffle. He was treated and released at a hospital, then arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.

Police were seeking court approval to examine the contents of the man's backpack.
