Social safety nets...
Well, the forum will be closing soon, and for the most part, it won't be missed, I'm sure. Rail opponents here did not present a convincing argument. So, I believe my supporting argument had its intended affect - according to polls, local support has increased. I tried to present argument that is analytical, factual, rational, reasonable and fair. I'm sure the rail project planning process will proceed less hindered by opponents who are mostly unable to present honest argument.

During WWII, public transit use increased significantly due to gasoline rationing. Kaleowao wouldn't know what's sensible if it were handed to him on a silver platter. Criminal behavior will be with us as long as income disparity between rich and poor remains at today's historic level. People are driven to crime because of insecurity, apathy, and injustice. Automobile use is a costly means of travel that significantly adds to the overall cost of living, and subtracts funds from going to support a basic social safety net. The anti-rail crowd is ideologically aligned with Darwinism.

Modern rail transit is not that loud. Typically, property values near stations go up, not down. As for crime, it has less to do with building a rail system than republican race and class warfare.

once you do, if you want to stay in touch, there is a thread within the Feedback forum where you can post so we'll know you're there etc etc.
