1. Joseph Tacub of the imaging department works with machines that make the plates for the new MAN Roland Press at The Advertiser's Kapolei Printing Plant. He processes the digital files that make the plate for the front page and all other pages.

2. Tacub reviews a front-page plate made from digital files sent from The Advertiser's Kapi'olani Boulevard newsroom.

3. Pressman Jarret Ho picks out the plate that will print the black elements on The Honolulu Advertiser's front page in the imaging department. 4. Ho, left, passes on two plates of the newspaper's PM Edition front page to fellow pressman Presidio Cole, along with some instructions, as they prepare to put the plates on the new press.

5. Cole installs the black plate that will print the black elements of the front page of The Advertiser's PM Edition. 6. Computers control adjustments on the press such as color registration and density, among other settings.

7. Newspapers fresh from the press make their way to another part of the plant where additional ads and other materials are inserted.

8. Advertiser pressman Clarence Luna inspects a copy of the newspaper from the press to make sure the reproduction is perfect. 9. Longtime Advertiser employee Clayton Loui pushes a cart loaded with newspapers that are bundled with the proper inserts to be delivered to a distribution area.
