| Hal "J Akuhead Pupule" Lewis was a radio institution in Hawai'i for 37 years. At the time of his death in 1983 he had long been known as the highest-paid radio personality in the country and was credited with keeping KSSK at the top of the AM ratings in the Islands. His morning show was a mixture of music and generally conservative opinion, punctuated with a series of bells, buzzers, whistles and gag recordings. This photo was taken in 1955. |
