| For 80 years, a gracious home known as "Old Plantation" stood between King Street and Kap'iolani Boulevard on 23 acres and had Ward Avenue as its 'ewa boundary. The house was built by Curtis P. Ward for his wife and seven daughters. The city bought the estate for $2.3 million and the two-story redwood house was torn down in 1959. It is now the site of the Blaisdell concert hall, exhibition hall and arena. The lagoon was preserved from the original estate. This photo was taken in 1957. |
