| In 1962, Honolulu Police Chief Dan Liu tested a conveyor belt in the Police Department's new communications center. The belt carried messages from the dispatch sergeant, right, to the radio dispatcher in the booth. The panel of lights hanging from the ceiling showed which motor patrolmen were available for assignment. |
