On Sept. 30, 2008, the employees of The Sushi Girlz will attempt to set a world record for the biggest California-style sushi. The event, which will take place at Queen's Beach in Waikiki at 12 p.m., will require 100 pounds of imitation crab, 50 pounds of avocado, 1,000 sheets of nori and 300 pounds of rice.

The public can buy pieces of the roll-type sushi after it is completed for $3 a slice. Proceeds will benefit the Aloha United Way.

Volunteers are needed for the event. Call Patty Wakai at our office at 210-3812 or e-mail her at pwakai@pubrelworks.com to volunteer or for more information.

Five quick tips on writing a press release:

  1. Keep your press release short and to the point.
  2. Give editors a reason to pay attention to your press release rather than the dozens of others they receive each day.
  3. Answer the questions who, what, where, when and how.
  4. Be sure to include contact information in case we have questions about your release.
  5. Double check all information in the press release to ensure accuracy.
