THE HARBORS
Two Hawai'i harbors have been improved to include floating steel barges that will be used to load and unload vehicles at the Kahului and Honolulu harbors. A movable hard ramp was put in at Nawiliwili Harbor. All were part of $40 million in state-funded harbor infrastructure improvements for the Superferry.

WHAT'S ON BOARD
Offered are three dining options and a variety of seats, from restaurant-type dining tables to reclining aircraft-style armchairs and family friendly tables surrounded by relaxing leather sofas. Keiki have their own play area at the Manta-Cove play room, teens can enjoy the latest video games in the onboard arcade room. The Calabash Gift Shop carries Hawai'i-made products, magazines, logo-wear and sundries.

HOW THE VEHICLES ARE LOADED
Vehicles will be parked on two lower decks, the mezzanine deck and main deck. The mezzanine can be raised to accommodate larger vehicles parked on the main deck. Cars, pickups, minivans, buses and commercial vehicles will be allowed on as well as bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles. You can bring a one-or two-person canoe, kayak, or surfboard that is secured on top of your vehicle, and various types of trailers are allowed.

HOW THE MEZZANINE LIFT WORKS
The lift enables big trucks and cars to be shipped at the same time, with big trucks parking on the main floor. Most cars will be parked on the mezzanine level. The forward part of this deck is fixed in position, but the aft sections can be raised when fewer cars are aboard to create more room for taller vehicles on the main floor.

COMPARING A HYDROFOIL AND A CATAMARAN
The Hawaii Superferry vessel is built on a catamaran hull. It does not have ballast because the vessel is made of aluminum, which makes it light. The hull rides in the water with computer-controlled forward ride control fins that stabilize the vessel.

At cruising speed, the hull rises above water level, creating a smooth and fast ride.
