I want to say hi to my girlfriend in Hawai'i and my family members back in Mesa. I'll be home soon. Miss you and love you bunches. We're in Iraq to help the citizens help themselves by ridding anti-coalition forces from the area and giving them the chance to live, to be free. The kids — they love us, and the people seem friendly. The living conditions are tolerable, there's running water and I have a roof over my head. Being out here, it's made me appreciate things and not take things for granted like most people do on a daily basis. I have a new appreciation for life itself and the living conditions in America.

Sgt. Dominic Fresch, age 22; Mesa, Ariz.; command driver, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment.
