Sgt. Richard J. Silva, 32, Makakilo, attached to the 3rd Battalion, 297th Infantry, Alaska National Guard, Alpha Company, forward observer, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technician.

To my wife, June, my sons, Joshua and Cedric, and Mom and Dad, I’m doing well, eating well, and I’ll see you soon. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to come here and help the Iraqi people establish their new government. I’ve been welcomed by the Iraqi people that I’ve met and it’s been a very fulfilling feeling.
