Physical hardship draws no complaints By Jan TenBruggencate Everyone is working sleep-deprived. Back and shoulder muscles unused to hauling anchor and manhandling the bucking sweep are aching. Hands are tender from pulling wet rope. Feet are sore from walking on the hot deck. Crewmembers splash water on the deck to cool it down for those steering the canoe. Nobody is complaining.
