Greeting Pearl and Hermes

By Jan TenBruggencate
Advertiser Science Writer

We sighted Pearl and Hermes Atoll about 9:30 a.m., took a short dive in about 25 feet of water, and then proceeded along the atoll's southern reefs.

Ann Bell spotted a large glass ball. We steered to let it pass on our right side and had three people hanging over the side. It got by the first two, but was snagged by the third. It's our second big one on this trip.
