Aloha, Patsy!
From the Big Island,
Honorable Patsy Mink was a woman of great tenacity and fervor! Our ballots were marked for you in the primary, as on many other previous ballots. God must have needed you to run things up in heaven now!

My condolences to Mrs. Mink's family
With much heartfelt sorrow I send my condolences to you. Mrs. Mink has helped to teach many of us that anything is possible. She has been a bright star representing the interests of Hawai'i during her tenure in Washington.
As I keep you in my prayers, may the Lord grant you peace.
With much aloha,
Charlotte Gusler
Patsy lamented
Patsy Mink was on my mind as I was preparing to sit down this morning and write our Hawai'i congressional delegation to lament the current cowardice of Democrats in Congress with regard to our president's demand for an unrestricted mandate to attack Iraq.
I felt sure that her strong, unwavering, reasoned voice was being heard in protest of the pending legislation that would give George Bush the authority to unilaterally decide when to go to war and whom to attack.
Our dismay and grief at the loss of this courageous leader is too deep to express. We feel certain that had Patsy been able to oppose this measure that effectively abdicates the constitutional power and right of Congress to debate and decide upon a declaration of war, she would have led a defense of our republican, representative form of government.
Patsy was a great leader. She will always be for us a symbol of the best that America and its promise could be or might have been, based on a constitution unique in the world for its guarantee of freedoms to speak, vote, and participate in a government based on those principles.

Aloha Oe
For all that you have done to preserve what you thought was right and at times taking a stance that others didn't agree with, I commend you. BRAVO!
For all that you did by breaking the many barriers of gender and race and standing up for what you thought was right, I stand in awe.
YOU WENT GIRL! You did it!
The NATION misses you.
You always fought hard for what you believed in and that will continue.
We weep as we know you are gone....We smile as we know your legacy will go on.
Until we meet again... Aloha oe!

Condolences from Mililani
I would like to offer my prayers and condolences to the family of Congresswoman Patsy T. Mink. On more than one occasion I had written to Congresswoman Mink for assistance. She was quick to reply to my letters and help resolve my problems. I feel that she was the best congressional representative from the state of Hawai'i, and she will be sorely missed.
She fought very hard for the people of Hawai'i. Again, my prayers and heartfelt condolences to her family.

A great gift
Congresswoman Mink was truly one of the greatest gifts Hawai'i has ever given to the nation, to the world. An extraordinary woman, a committed public servant, a wonderful friend. No one will ever be able to replace her in the professional, political or personal scope.

The passing of Mrs. Mink
To the family of Mrs. Mink,
Mrs. Mink was a dedicated and passionate champion of the people of our archipelago homeland. She will be missed.
I first met her at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, where she taught American Congressional Behavior at the Political Science Department in the spring 1979. She was a thoughtful and articulate instructor. Her lessons have served me well over the years.
Over the years, I have corresponded with her office, and came across her in political gatherings. I last heard from her less than two months ago.
I wish you the best.
Aloha.
