SOUTHEAST ASAIN
All the major cuisines are represented in Hawai'i, though, of course, Asian and Southeast Asian restaurants are the most common. Here, we've selected a representative sample. (More Asian and Southeast Asian restaurants can be found in the chapters on dim sum, noodles, sushi bars, izakaya, takeout and yakiniku.)
HALE VIETNAM
This busy restaurant on a Kaimuki side street was one of the first to entice non-Vietnamese Islanders to learn about green papaya salad, spring and summer rolls, bun (rice paper noodles), boneless stuffed chicken wings and, of course, the many varieties of ph— (including seafood). Mild flavors, pleasant atmosphere.
