Rogelio Cacho displays Liliha Bakery cocopuffs; others make them, but Liliha's are the standard by which all are judged.

Should this 54-year-old bakery ever close, the cries and gnashing of teeth will be heard around the state. The bakery's chocolate filled, chantilly-topped coco puffs are the one dessert no Islander can refuse; cakes, cinnamon twists, Danishes and other old-fashioned pastries are also treasured. The coffee-shop counter is constantly occupied with folks enjoying the pancakes and local-style plate specials.
