FINE DINING

When it's time to dine (as opposed to just eat), these are O'ahu's most revered places.

DIAMOND HEAD GRILL, W Hotel

Who knew before this restaurant opened that there was a drop-dead view of Diamond Head from this spot across the street from Kapi'olani Park? Though the second-floor location is known for its hip Wonder Lounge bar, the Grill, which serves dinner and pupu until midnight, offers a local-focused "Flavors of Hawai'i menu" designed by chef Todd Wells, including beer-glazed Manila clam pasta, daily fish specials, braised oxtails, mac nut-crusted lamb chops.

W Hotel, second floor, 2885 Kalakaua Ave. 922-3734. www.diamondhead grill.com. 922-3734. Dinner: 6-10 p.m. daily. Bar: 5:30-midnight Sunday-Thursday.
