FINE DINING

When it's time to dine (as opposed to just eat), these are O'ahu's most revered places.

HANOHANO ROOM, Sheraton Waikiki Hotel

The 30th-floor Hanohano Room was recently renovated to give its bar, the Cobalt Lounge, a hip edge, and offers live entertainment nightly. The dining room was updated, too, but remains awash in light with extraordinary sunset views. The Continental/Regional Island Cuisine menu presents updated classics, including a diner's favorite prime rib, as well as contemporary dishes such as lemongrass-crusted onaga.

Sheraton Waikiki, 2255 Kalakaua Ave. 922-4422. www.sheraton-waikiki.com. Dinner: 5:30-10 p.m. daily. Bar: 5 p.m.-midnight. Reservations recommended. Valet and self-parking. VS, MC, AX, DC, DS, JCB. Checks accepted. $$$.
