2004 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER - STEAK HOUSES
Sometimes, you just want that steakhouse experience — the fragrance of grilling wood chips and sizzling meat, the hearty side dishes and a glass of red. Here are our recommendations.

Best Fine Dining Restaurant
HY'S STEAK HOUSE

Hy's is a step back in time, with the look of a stately English manor house, staffed by tuxedoed waiters. The welcoming atmosphere in this Waikiki institution tempers its formality, however. The focus of chef Almar Arcano's menu is on kiawe-grilled steaks, chops and seafood, with tableside service (Caesar salad, Chateaubriand, flamb? desserts) a specialty.

2440 Kuhio Ave. 922-5555. Dinner: 6-10 p.m. Monday-Friday, 5:30-10 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Reservations recommended. Valet and self-parking. VS, MC, AX, DC, DS, JCB. No checks. $$$.
