Lyle Fujioka launched the city's first contemporary wine bar in 2003 in an appropriately shadowy and catacomb-like spot, offering a simple menu of antipasto (cheese and meat plates, crostini, escargot) and panini sandwiches (Italian grilled sandwiches). Thirty-plus wines are offered by the glass, each described in detail on the menu and available in a 2-ounce or 6-ounce servings or by the bottle. Interesting music plays in the background.
