2004 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER - YAKINIKU
Yakiniku is a cook-your-own approach. You choose from various meat selections — marinated ribs, chicken, strip loin — then prepare them on a grill on the tabletop. Despite the Japanese name, this style of cuisine originated in Korea, where charcoal braziers (p'ungno) were common in homes and restaurants (propane is common now).

Sorabol is the biggest Korean restaurant in Hawai'i, a rambling place with table seating, private dining rooms and cocktail lounge. It has managed to retain its authenticity while enticing Westerners in to experience the often mysterious world of Korean cookery. The menu is wide-ranging and includes English translations. Kal-bi and steamed butterfish are specialties.
