2004 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER
Each year, we ask readers of The Honolulu Advertiser to vote for the restaurants they judge best. And the 2004 winners are ...

Best Restaurant, Big Island
MERRIMAN'S

Eating at Merriman's is like sitting down to the table on a country farm — provided, of course, that the farm comes with a professionally trained chef. Chef Sandy Barr, under Peter Merriman's mentorship, buys the freshest and highest quality and most interesting local raw ingredients, then treats them with respect — adding, never subtracting, from flavors and textures. Wok-charred 'ahi is the signature dish but we love anything here with fresh lamb or sweet corn.
