2004 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER - CASUAL DINING
As we define it for this guide, casual dining is a state of mind. It doesn't necessarily mean inexpensive, though it usually implies good value — getting as much or more than you paid for. It doesn't necessarily mean shorts and slippers, though it suggests a relaxed dress code.

Best North Shore Restaurant
HALEIWA JOE'S SEAFOOD GRILL

It's fun to play tourist from time to time and run out to the North Shore and order one of those touristy drinks at Haleiwa Joe's where you get the plastic glass with the beach diorama in the bottom. Fun to sit on the covered lanai and watch the boats putter in and out of Hale'iwa harbor while you enjoy coconut shrimp, prime rib, fresh local fish or Paradise Pie. A second outlet overlooks peaceful Ha'iku Gardens.
