CASUAL DINING

As we define it for this guide, casual dining is a state of mind. It doesn't necessarily mean inexpensive, though it usually implies good value - getting as much or more than you paid for. It doesn't necessarily mean shorts and slippers, though it suggests a relaxed dress code.

HUKILAU CAFE

If you've spent much time out by La'ie, you know there aren't many restaurants out that way. This one, operated by local boy chef Kalani Soren, is beloved of locals for down-home and delicious breakfasts and plate-lunch midday meals. Beef stew omelet (a sort of stew moco) or fried rice are 'ono and the burgers and roast pork plate lunch are highly recommended.
