When it's time to dine (as opposed to just eat), these are O'ahu's most revered places.

Hawai'i's Best Restaurant 2004
ALAN WONG'S RESTAURANT

Alan Wong, plantation village boy turned uber-chef, has trained a loyal and talented "Next Generation" staff to carry out "the Wong way."

Bruce Asato • The Honolulu Advertiser

Is there such a thing as a flawless restaurant? If there is, Alan Wong's is surely in the running. There's never an off note here: the warm welcome, the exquisite food, the far-reaching wine list, the professional service, the relaxed Island ambience. Which explains why Alan's has received an 'Ilima Award every year of its nine-year existence, and has been Best Restaurant (or Favorite, its earlier incarnation) six times. Expect interesting but not over-fussy food in a Hawai'i-and-the-world style: Tableside Poke (tossed before your eyes), Macadamia Nut and Coconut Crusted Lamb Chops, Chinatown Roast Duck Nacho. Tasting menus are offered.
