2004 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER - ITALIAN (AND PIZZA)
All the major cuisines are represented in Hawai'i, though, of course, Asian and Southeast Asian restaurants are the most common. Here, we've selected a representative sample. (More Asian and Southeast Asian restaurants can be found in the chapters on dim sum, noodles, sushi bars, izakaya, takeout and yakiniku.)

Best for Pasta
AUNTIE PASTO'S

Drive by the corner of Beretania and Pensacola anytime after dusk and you'll see a line of patient souls, talking story and staring longingly in the windows at the folks enjoying their spaghetti and fettuccine. Ed Wary's 20-year-old Italian-American spaghetti house was designed to offer the value, flavor and friendliness he recalled from growing up in a Pittsburgh neighborhood full of ristorantes. His formula has been a winner in this spot ever since.
