ITALIAN (AND PIZZA)

All the major cuisines are represented in Hawai'i, though, of course, Asian and Southeast Asian restaurants are the most common. Here, we've selected a representative sample. (More Asian and Southeast Asian restaurants can be found in the chapters on dim sum, noodles, sushi bars, izakaya, takeout and yakiniku.)

CAFE SISTINA

Sergio Mitrotti just about has every flat surface in the place covered with Sistina-style murals now, which adds to the charm of his three-generation menu (his Nonna's recipes, his Mama's, and his creations). A favorite at lunch is the contadina salad with slices of fritatta; for dinner, veal al barolo in a rich, brown sauce. Interesting Italian wines.
