2005 'ILIMA AWARD WINNER - BEST SOUTHEAST ASIAN RESTAURANT

In the 10th anniversary year of the 'Ilima Awards, these are the restaurants that turned the heads of our readers and our in-house food experts.

BEST SOUTHEAST ASIAN RESTAURANT
Keo's in Waikiki

Keo Sananikone pretty much wrote the book on Thai cuisine in Honolulu, demystifying it for the masses, attracting attention to the cuisine by drawing in celebrities (whose photos lined the walls of his now-gone original eatery on Kapahulu). Visitors and locals who went there for the celebrity-watching stayed for the Evil Jungle Prince coconut curry and the green papaya salad (made with organically grown papaya from his North Shore farm.) The Waikiki location's lush and well-appointed dining room showcases the food beautifully.
