  FINE DINING

It's difficult, sometimes, to differentiate fine dining from casual in Hawai'i — restaurants here are rarely formal and less than a handful have a dress code. When we think of fine dining, however, we think of careful attention to detail, in food, in service, in surroundings.

Azul, JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa

Really get away from it all in the serenity of Azul, where Hawai'i meets Tuscany in the dining room and Mediterranean influences cavort with fresh Island ingredients on the menu. Luring patrons to the west side are chef de cuisine Arnold Gabriel's understated entrees, such as a seared three-peppercorn 'ahi accompanied by tortilla espanola, Hamakua mushroom ragout, wilted Island watercress and warm gazpacho. Intimate booths and outdoor tables with a garden view lend the setting a romantic and private air.
