  FINE DINING

It's difficult, sometimes, to differentiate fine dining from casual in Hawai'i — restaurants here are rarely formal and less than a handful have a dress code. When we think of fine dining, however, we think of careful attention to detail, in food, in service, in surroundings.

Banyan Veranda, Sheraton Moana Surfrider

The Banyan Veranda combines both indoor and outdoor dining — on the wide, breezy veranda that dates back to 1901 and inside an adjacent courtyard-view wing of Waikiki's oldest hotel. Meal service includes a lavish, local-friendly Sunday brunch (see Brunch, Page 44), afternoon tea Monday through Saturday and nightly dinners featuring the Pan Pacific cuisine of chefs Ralf Bauer and Richard Lancaster. The sort of experience that draws people to the Islands.
