  FINE DINING

It's difficult, sometimes, to differentiate fine dining from casual in Hawai'i — restaurants here are rarely formal and less than a handful have a dress code. When we think of fine dining, however, we think of careful attention to detail, in food, in service, in surroundings.

Indigo Eurasian Cuisine

Veteran caterer and restaurateur Glenn Chu is terrifically skilled, with an intimate knowledge of Eastern cuisines. Though this restaurant in a renovated Chinatown building is looking a bit shopworn now, and the emphasis sometimes seems to be more on the lively bar, we keep going back for favorite dishes (goat cheese wontons, Mongolian lamb chops) and the very reasonably priced ($15.95) lunch buffet. Convenient for Hawai'i Theatre events and Friday art nights in the area.
