  FINE DINING

It's difficult, sometimes, to differentiate fine dining from casual in Hawai'i — restaurants here are rarely formal and less than a handful have a dress code. When we think of fine dining, however, we think of careful attention to detail, in food, in service, in surroundings.

3660 On The Rise

The "sophisticated local" flavors that characterize the menu at Russell Siu and Gail Ogawa's 'Ilima Award-winning 3660 On The Rise have kept the restaurant buzzing since the day it opened. Here, Lelan Tsukada works the line.

It's not hyperbole to say that 3660 has been busy every night since it opened in 1992. Co-owners Gale Ogawa and Russell Siu divide the duties with Gale keeping the front of the house moving briskly and Russell and his chef-team creating fusion cuisine calibrated to local tastes in such signature dishes as 'ahi katsu and New York steak alaea. The unassuming dining room seems always full of celebrating kama'aina who know they'll find their favorite flavors — but turned up a notch or two.
