  CASUAL DINING

When we're not in a dress-up mood, when it's lunch with a friend or dinner with a crowd, when we want to eat well without breaking the bank, these are the restaurants we choose.

Duke's Canoe Club

Duke's Canoe Club is the quintessential beach restaurant, favored by both visitors and residents for a multitude of reasons: the ocean views and indoor- outdoor dining, steaks and seafood at night, a great low-priced Sunday brunch, live music in the bar (even the odd Jimmy Buffett concert!).

Duke's, just steps from Waikiki Beach, is perennially crowded and noisy but always fun, with some of the best people-watching potential of any restaurant in town. Hung with memorabilia relating to the late swimming and surfing great Duke Kahanamoku, this restaurant offers a terrific bargain brunch buffet. Lunches are of the sandwich and burger sort, and at night, it's surf, turf and cocktail time. Be warned: Later in the evening, live music in the bar can take the decibel level over the top.
