  CASUAL DINING

When we're not in a dress-up mood, when it's lunch with a friend or dinner with a crowd, when we want to eat well without breaking the bank, these are the restaurants we choose.

Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant

At Gordon Biersch, it's about the whole experience — not just the food, but the seating almost within touching distance of the action in Honolulu Harbor, the live music on weekends, the TVs tuned to sports in the indoor and outdoor bars, the fresh-made beer and smell of hops, the little birds trying to share your food. We recommend the skewers platter (rice cakes with teri sticks) and a spot right on the pier in the early evening. A good place to take out-of-towners.

Aloha Tower Marketplace, 1 Aloha Tower Drive. 599-4877. Lunch: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily. Dinner: 4-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 4-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday. Late-night appetizers until midnight Saturday. Bar open until 1 a.m. Reservations recommended. Valet and self-parking. VS, MC, AX, DC, DS, JCB. No checks. Lunch: $$. Dinner: $$$.
