  CASUAL DINING

When we're not in a dress-up mood, when it's lunch with a friend or dinner with a crowd, when we want to eat well without breaking the bank, these are the restaurants we choose.

Haleiwa Joe's Seafood Grill

Popular with tourists and locals, Haleiwa Joe's is an Island charmer with its airy interiors, scenic views at both locations (tropical beach or garden, take your pick) and all the kitschy Hawaiiana touches. Mellow bars with good, stiff drinks plus popular plates of shrimp deep-fried in a crunchy, coconut crust; thick, juicy slabs of prime rib and paradise pie (Kona coffee ice cream on crushed Oreo cookies) make for a winning formula.
