  CASUAL DINING

When we're not in a dress-up mood, when it's lunch with a friend or dinner with a crowd, when we want to eat well without breaking the bank, these are the restaurants we choose.

Nico's at Pier 38

Nico Chaize presents furikake swordfish on Nalo greens. His dockside restaurant specializes in casual breakfasts and lunches, with the menu dependent on which fish are available at the nearby Pier 38 auction.

Chef Nicholas Chaize has set up shop just steps from the fishing boats unloading their catches for the United Fishing Agency Auction on the newly renovated Pier 38. This ensures that customers only pay $8 maximum for plate lunches with gourmet styling such as seared tombo ahi with a Provencal tomato sauce. Auction workers and fishermen queue up with office workers for the rich beef stew and tangy hoisin barbecue chicken, too.
