  CASUAL DINING

When we're not in a dress-up mood, when it's lunch with a friend or dinner with a crowd, when we want to eat well without breaking the bank, these are the restaurants we choose.

Wailana Coffee House

The Wailana, often an 'Ilima Award winner, is a "Cheers" sort of place where a lot of people do seem to know each other's names (probably because so many of the residents in the upstairs condo eat half their meals there). But even if they don't know you, the hosts and servers are diner-style friendly. And this is a classic local-style diner with a menu of comfort-food standards from hamburgers to pork chops, daily chef's specials, a small salad bar, low prices and endless coffee refills. At night, the bar hops with happy-hour pupu and karaoke.
