  CHINESE

While the range of international restaurants in Hawai'i may be narrow, the number of ethnic restaurants is very large. Most of these are family-run operations where the prices are right, the servings are ample and the fuss is minimal. More Asian and Southeast Asian restaurants are in the sections on dim sum, noodles, sushi bars, izakaya, takeout and yakiniku.

Little Village Noodle House

Little Village has weathered a blizzard of media attention and wall-to-wall diners over the past four years, and managed not to lose its initial reputation for helpful service and excellent food. The key is experience: This is the third restaurant for founders Ken and Jen Chan; it was Jen who masterminded this more upscale, pan-China restaurant. We've never had a bad dish here but always enjoy the Shanghai noodles, salt-and-pepper pork chop, spicy shrimp, shredded beef, orange chicken, garlic spinach ... oh, everything.
