MEDITERRANEAN, INDIAN AND MIDDLE EASTERN
|
| O'ahu is home to hundreds of ethnic restaurants — most heavily Asian, most of them small, inexpensive and family-run, and all with their regulars and passionate fans. We couldn't possibly visit them all in a year, much less include them all in this guide. So this is just a selection, focused on offering as wide a range of cuisines as possible. |

The only place on O'ahu to find South Indian dosas (thin, pancakelike breads made of fermented, stone-ground rice and lentils), this easygoing cafe, owned by the Segaran family, does them Malaysian-style. It's hard to choose between the various fiery curries of vegetables, lamb or shrimp, and vegetarians will be just as hard-pressed to decide considering the many choices available to them. You can even get sweet dosas — sprinkled with sugar or spread with coconut jam (kaya) — washing them down with "pulled" tea or milk-coffee.
