  BREAKFAST, BRUNCH, BUFFET

Islanders are inordinately fond of the three "Bs" — breakfast, brunch, buffet. When The Advertiser sent out a call for nominees for best breakfast spot a while back, we got an avalanche, with many strong opinions. And because we are so volume- and value-conscious, brunches and buffet spreads have strong appeal.

Eggs 'N Things

Jan Fukunaga's Eggs 'n Things is an institution, founded to serve not just visitors but late-night workers and early morning surfers. As it has for more than 20 years, the menu features hefty omelets, fruit crepes, fresh fish and steaks with eggs and healthful options including egg-white scrambles and bran pancakes and the service is "Cheers"-style friendly. Expect a wait.
